A Night at the Ball Park

Sam and Isaac's first baseball game went very well for such a hot and humid night. After arriving to the front gates of the ball park I was quickly questioning what we were thinking coming on such a sticky night. Already, just from the walk up to the park, we were all dripping with sweat.

We bought the tickets and then were off to find our seats; Joel disappointed in the good seats being sold out, had to settle for the cheap seat tickets. You can imagine that our hike to our seats was a good one! :-) It happened to be buck night out at the K so we enjoyed plenty of pop, hot dogs, and peanuts. Sam was very attentive the whole game up until the bottom of the 7th, and by this time I was also tired of sitting in my seat, so we got up to go hunt down some cotton candy but were disappointed to find out that they had sold all out. Bummer! The lady sitting in front of us with her daughter and husband turned around and said to me, "How old is he? I can't believe that he is sitting so nice and being so good. I have two 20 month olds at home and there is no way that they would sit so good for the entire game!" I smiled and said, the boy loves sports and right now the season is baseball.

I was also surprised at how well Isaac was. Not once was he fussy. He had two bottles while we were there and even took a nap. When he wasn't doing that he was too busy flirting with the people behind us. Yes for it being hotter than Hades the boys were excellent!

Beside the weather being less than ideal the time seemed to go by rather fast. I enjoyed watching Sam as he watched the ball players down on the field. He would yell "Foul Ball, Home Run and Strike" as the rest of the crowd did. He also enjoyed the CLAP-CLAP, CLAP CLAP CLAP, -CLAP CLAP'S and doing the wave. He also was fascinated with the beautiful fountains that Kauffmen stadium is known for, and was a little scared of the sudden "Boom Boom" as he'll tell you, from the fireworks that go off when there is a home run.

We were lucky enough to witness 2 that night. Yes, he was involved with the entire surrounding. On top being very good, Sam looked very cute, complete with Royal's jersey, glove, and an official Royals cap. Some of these pictures are keepers!

Nesting

Okay all you folks that are too far away to come and see our house, I've decided to go ahead and post pictures of what the house looks like at this time. Granted we still have plenty of nesting to do, but for now it is cozy, while we finish up some other projects.

I've also included some updated pictures of the boys. And a quick note on the newest stuff from my munchkins; Samuel, when asked what his name is can tell you as well as if you ask him how old he is. This only took about 15 minutes of practice. If you know Sam well you know that he has an accent with most words that he says and his name is no exception. Bye- Sounds like he is from the southern states, while Car-sounds like he is from Boston, and I'm not sure yet where it sounds like he is from when he says his name Sam- as Shaaaam (almost like a question).

Isaac is up on all fours and is bound to make his first moves within the next week or so. His hair continues to stand up on end regardless of length, and the older ladies at the grocery store love to stop and comment on it.

Other than that we continue to battle out one project at a time and surely by the time we move out all our projects will be done. :-) The kitchen should be close to completion by my birthday (August 10th, for those of you that care) and the boys' rooms should be soon to follow. For those of you that are close enough to come and visit us be looking for our house warming party invite hopefully sometime in August.

Firework Spectacular

Okay I know it has been a while since I've last posted, but now we are all moved into our new house and are finally starting to feel organized. There are still lots of projects to take care of, but we can handle those one at a time now that the main meat and potatoes are taken care of.

For the 4th of July my parents came over to help put in our glass block window in the bathroom, and my mom helped me clear out our laundry room, mud room and the garage. With walking room through those areas I feel much better. We grilled some pork tenderloin and had cheesy potatoes, salad, rolls, and chocolate cake for dinner. It was mighty tasty after 5-6 hours of work.

Afterwards we headed out to Corporate Woods Firework Spectacular show. We met up with Joel's parents to watch the show. Sam had fun people watching and we all enjoyed a Gelati. He also thought that his glow in the dark bracelet was pretty cool.

I thought for sure that Isaac would be the one bawling because of the noise, but it was the opposite. Sam was very concerned with the loud booms. He put his hands up to his mouth and was shaking his head no, not to mention begging to go bye bye, bye bye, bye bye. It didn't take long for him to realize that the noise wasn't going to hurt him and he was quick to whoop with the rest of the people when there were pretty fireworks.

Isaac gazed up at the sky ever so cute until he couldn't hold his head up any longer.

The next time I looked over at him he was fast asleep on Grandma Kellen. It was a long day for us all. At the end of the show it was time to head back to the car. We thought we remembered where we parked, but instead we wandered around carrying 2 kids and all our crap for an HOUR before a man also walking around lost with his wife and child, stopped to point us in the right direction. After that mess and my mood being altered by the end of it, I came home and ate a big piece of chocolate cake.....amazingly that helped my mood a lot. I could now go to bed happy.

My Little Gentleman

Okay there is a lot to catch up with on this blog. Sorry I have been negligent with it; for those of you that visit often to catch up. Well most of you probably know that Joel and I bought our first house the last Thursday in May, and since then I have been busy busy busy!! The first line of business to take care of in the house was cutting the nasty carpet in 3 foot strips and bundling them up so that the trash men would take them. I did that in 3 rooms. Next I had to remove all the tacking strip and all of the tacks throughout all the rooms in order to prep the floors for being refinished (we were lucky to find we had hardwoods existing throughout the entire house). Here is a taste of what I did.

The kitchen was the worst to prep because there was 6 layers of linoleum that needed to be ripped up. My cousin Brad and Joel got dirty with this job. Thanks Brad!

After the floors I started in on demo in the main bathroom. All the drywall needed to be torn down, the vanity junked, toilet gone, medicine cabinet gone, etc.

With a lot of help from my Dad the new sheetrock was hung. He also helped close of one wall where there was a door going into our room, and building a walk-in closet in our master bedroom!! Thanks Dad! With that project finished I hired out for someone to do the tape and mud of the sheetrock as well as add texture to the surfaces that were not done. Finally, upon completion of the tape and mud, my floor guys have been working away sanding, staining and putting the top coats on our wood floors. Somewhere in between all of that stuff I have primed the walls so that they are ready to paint. For those of you that want to see more before/during/after pictures you'll have to come to our house warming party sometime in July. After that I will try and post more for those of you that can't make it in July.

Joel's parents also put logged in some time when we first took posession. The gutters were sprouting new trees because of obviouse neglect from cleaning them from the prior owner, and the grass was getting much too long. Steve helped with the weed eating, and assistance with Joel so that the gutters could be cleaned out. Meanwhile inside Sharon asked if there was anything she could do to help (I bet now she wished she hadn't asked! :-)) She also helped pull tacks in Sam's bedroom. But now the hardest parts should be done with. Of course there are other projects to be done, but hopefully not so labor intensive as these first few. I guess we'll keep crossing our finger with that one. I also want to say thank you for those that helped watch the kids during the start up period so that we could get everything done.

During the time I could not get into the house to do anything, while the floors were being done, we had another main event to attend. Jenny (Joel's sister) got married on Saturday. Samuel was the "king of the ring" and looked mighty studly in his tux!

Cooperation for pictures was pretty much slim to none considering he was already running empty from a lack of nap that day.

Friday we enjoyed mexican food for the dinner rehearsal, and Saturday was an all day event! Sunday there was a lunch for all out of town relatives and then we celebrated Father's Day as Joel wanted it.

Now that the floors are complete I can get back into the house and finish up painting and the cleaning that is desperately needed before we move in. Our house that we are currently living in is a complete wreck with the process of packing started. I feel like I am going crazy, and it is driving me nuts being unorganized and sloppy! I can't wait to get in the new house and settled in. We will be enjoying the Farmer's Market on a weekly basis and can't wait to make that one of our summer traditions. Now that I have caught you up on what has been going on with the Kellen clan, I better start fixing lunch for my kiddo.

Bubbles and Water

I don't know about all other children, but water and bubbles are a huge highlight for Sam this summer. Yesterday was finally the time to play outside all day in water and bubbles. This was the perfect opportunity for me to use some different options on my camera; I mastered the continuous shot, so I was able to capture some really good facial expressions on Sam!

Okay I'm ready!

I can do my bubble gun all by myself!

The get together was at Auntie Kathy and Uncie Al's house. All took advantage of the breezy front porch and shaded yard during the day, and like always we were in good company with good food!
