Elf Hat

Don't you just love her new hat?
Tidbits of things you are doing now:

Smiling
Turning over onto your side
Bringing your hands together
Sucking on your two middle fingers on your right hand
Giggling
Being very alert to what is going on around you/following an object around a room
Smiling at your goofy older brothers
Reaching for an object close by
Going to sleep on your own (although I still spoil you often by rocking you because you are so addicting to me!)
Holding your head up on your own
Pushing up on your arms
Sleeping all through the night starting at 8ish

My dearest, sweetest Caroline. How can it be that you are already 3 months old? You have really started showing me that you are indeed a little girl. All baby coos are so sweet but yours are all sounds of a little girl. Little squeaks accompanied with the most precious smile I have ever seen, and what makes it even more special is that you are smiling all for me. You are so happy that I am your mama as I am overwhelming thrilled to be your mommy! I look at you and am so proud just for the fact that you are you.

I also look at you and know that someday down the road you will hurt my feelings, going through the teenage years, as I did with my mother; however I will try my hardest to remember that you won't really mean to hurt me, as I didn't really mean to hurt your Grandma. We all go through a transitioning period as we grow older and I guess that is just part of the ride even though it is an ugly part. This phase is a necessity so that once we have gotten to that magic age (whatever it is) we can truly appreciate the beauty of our mothers and just how much they mean to us. We will transition from a mommy/child relationship to a mother/daughter to a mother/best friend/forever daughter relationship, and I am looking forward to all the growing pains in the process, because ultimately I know you and I will be like me and your Grandma and therefore it is all worth it. It is a special bond, a mother and a daughter, and you won't be able to truly understand until you yourself are blessed with a daughter of your own and then I suspect that at some point, you will be writing close to the same thing to your daughter as I am you.

You are my forever pride and joy, forever my little girl. I love you!

Wow! You made your mommy cry! That is one of the sweetest things I have ever read. I'm so glad you got your little girl. Boys are wonderful and have their mommy's heart forever, but a daughter is in a category all her own. It is a joy watching my sweet girl with her sweet girl.
